My Gran has tried to teach me to knit every summer since I was about six, with varying degrees of success. Some of my Barbie dolls had scarves, as that was about as much as I had the patience to do back then! This autumn, a few weeks ago, I asked her to show me again, and she did. Then Gerry & Mimi decided to learn as well, so we have a photo of the three of us proudly knitting in Gran's living room!
Anyway, to cut a long story short(er), Gran's suggestion was that I knit lots of patches/squares and make a blanket, to get me used to doing different patterns and stitches, using different yarns and different sized needles.
As a result... I have a scarf! Well, almost - I made half of two different squares, then discovered the delights of large needles and Wendy Moiselle yarn - this is beautiful wool with ribbon entwined through it and I'm completely addicted! The pink & purple yarn has become a rectangle for the blanket, and the black mix has become a very long scarf :) Pics to follow, I'm so excited at the prospect of wearing something I've made that isn't jewellery!
Also, this sort of counts as a project, even though it's not strictly from a book. Honest!
The ups, downs and sidewayses of a crafter who loves to talk... (and occasionally, I might even blog about things I've made from a book, as that's what this blog was originally intended for!)

I haz a website! :)
Ahh, at long last I've got my website up and running! It's not finished quite yet, in fact it's more of a work in progress, but I wanted something to be ready for the craft fair in November and to have had a chance to get feedback and iron out any bugs or problems before I let it loose on the general public!
It's at Ducking Fabulous and I'd love to hear anything you have to say about it, good, bad or otherwise :)
